Manchester City have won six of their seven games against Belgium opponents in Europe competitions, including a 5-1 win in their only previous meeting with Club Brugge. However, Pep believes that this game is more substantial than the upcoming derby with Manchester United. Manchester City lost two games in a raw and they will be looking forward to turn things around when they face Club Brugge.
On the other hand, Club Brugge are looking for their first victory against English opponents in European competition since February 1995 and this will be their 14th attempt at doing so. Nevertheless, while Manchester City struggled to pick up momentum over the weekend, Club Brugge did manage to land a deserved 2-1 victory against St. Truiden on their domestic league.
“This is much more important than the United game,” said the Man City boss. “This game gives us an incredible step forward and chance to qualify for the Champions League last 16. He also added that there are many games in the UEFA group stages, but they are only left with 3 and they are decisive. “The group stages every year get more difficult. If you drop more than one or two defeats, we’re in trouble,” Added Pep.
