Gautrain commuters were left stranded after Gautrain services were disrupted due to loadshedding in the sandton and Midrand areas on Tuesday, 09 November 2021.
Gautrain services confirmed that the delay in operations of their trains today evening was due to power failure. “Due to power failure, the train service between Park & Midrand & the Airport service has been disrupted. A bus service is transporting passengers to and from the affected stations,” tweeted Gautrain Services.
The unhappy train service commuters were left to vent their frustrations on Social media. “#Loadshedding causing havoc at the Gautrain Station in Sandton, no trains coming in and we’ve been waiting almost +- an hour now**”, ” Yho Yho Sandton Gautrain station right now! We are forced to use buses to PTA”, “Lol, we’re stuck inside the Gautrain in Rhodesfield ‘All the trains have stopped. There’s no power on the overhead'”, read some of the tweets by angry commuters.
Mzansi tweeps reacted to the news and have been left seemingly unimpressed. “Everything has fallen apart. No water. No electricity. Gautrain stuck due to blackouts. Being employed is now by pure luck not according to your qualifications. Eating a sandwich/salad in the dark whilst suppressing a cry is the new normal”, “Not the Gautrain failing to be LS [Loadshedding] friendly”, ” Gautrain e Jammile****everyday in this country there’s something!!”, read some of the tweets. The Gautrain services have confirmed that they are making use of their bus services to transport commuters.
